Dude. I am *SO* tired. The price to pay for an awesome weekend, no doubt, but my day is kicking my butt like no other.
Since I am done with my work and waiting out my last hour I decided to compose my very first "on the job" post. My job is actually going quite well. I’ve already formed an enemy (not my fault) and an admirer (again, not my fault). They’ve given me four accounts (which is huge) and I’ve even been told a promotion can be mine... if I work for it. I’ve got a lot to do before I launch the new clients, but it’s quite rewarding seeing my work being put into action. I will say having a “real” job is a lot different than selling silk camis and chandelier earrings at the Limited. I find my self asking for permission for every little thing. My boss just laughs and reminds me I’m in the big leagues now. It’s so refreshing knowing I’m not going to get slapped on the hand for taking a break, making a phone call, or leaving to get a slurpee. And in contrast to my after school jobs, I have no desire to screw around and I actually find myself asking for more work. I guess this is just proof that if you treat your employees with the respect that they deserve, you will receive it in return… we’ll see how long this all lasts.
I did the WEIRDEST thing in my sleep last night. I must have been dreaming of brushing my teeth or something because at about 3am I woke up, grabbed my face wash (which happened to be on my bedside table), squirted some of it on my finger and proceeded to put it in my mouth. It wasn’t until the horrid flavor of the cleanser attacked my taste buds that I actually woke up and nearly vomited on myself. I ran to the bathroom, rinsed my mouth, brushed my teeth, and used Listerine. The taste still wasn’t gone, so I ate a banana, drank some apple juice, then sucked on a mint. It wasn’t until 4am that the taste was officially gone and I could fall asleep again. I really need to get some control over my dreams, because this is sadly not the first time something weird like this has happened to me.
Outside of the face wash fiasco, I did have a good night. Alex and I spent 4 hours baking a cake for my mom’s birthday. It’s a yellow cake base with alternating layers of chocolate, raspberries, and Kahlua crème frosting. It’s topped with fresh raspberries and chocolate shavings. Making this thing was probably the worst cake baking experience of both of our lives, but at the same time, I loved it. It was super stressful as we were both totally overtired, loaded with sugar, and sick of baking (I actually shed tears over that stupid thing). All in all, the cake ended up costing about 40 bucks to make, and although it would have been cheaper and so much easier to just buy one, I’m so glad we did it.
I’m going to see Alex in Virginia next weekend and we’re going to make our way out to the nation’s capitol to take in some politics, history, and other touristy-type stuff. Even though I will only be gone for 3 days, it will be nice to get away. The week after that is my birfday and we’ll be leaving for our road trip to Nashville! I’m really excited about this trip because we’ve been planning it for a while now and we’ve even had to bump the dates a bit. The weather is going to be hot as all hell but we’re not going to care as long as we can drink beer, eat pulled pork (ick), and line dance! Yeehaw!
Okay, that’s enough for now, my eyes are starting to hurt from the computer screen and I am so ready to go home… only 30 more minutes left!!
Have a great day :)
